“The Dynamics of Concert Tours,” presented by the National
Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP), was one of a series of
recent record industry panel discussions held by the organization. Among the topics discussed were: Current state of domestic and international tours; Pros and cons of multi-act festival concerts; Pros and cons of ticket sales through artist Web sites; Internet promotion innovations; Survival of local promoters in a corporate, monopolistic playing field; and International marketplace variables.
“No matter how good technology gets,” says Consolo, “in 20 years, people
will still want to see live music. There will always be a certain magic
about being in a room with 20,000 other people who love the same music as
you do.”
