In celebration of the new Nokia Theatre Times Square, Nokia and MTV: Music Television will open the doors for an exclusive all-star concert event. Taking place on September 27, the event will feature performances by Mary J. Blige, Nickelback, Sean Paul and Death Cab for Cutie. The celebration will be hosted by "Entourage's" Jeremy Piven and will include a comedic performance from Eddie Griffin. The event will be featured on-air on MTV December 14 at 8pm ET/PT and on MTV2 December 18 at 11pm ET/PT, as the season finale of the "Nokia Unwired" live music series.
The event will also serve as the official transition of the popular "Nokia Unwired" series in 2006 from the Hard Rock Live venue in Orlando to its new home at the state-of-the-art Nokia Theatre Times Square. Produced by Fearless Entertainment, "Nokia Unwired" is a 30 minute live music showcase featuring emerging and established bands including, Weezer, My Chemical Romance, Common and Fall Out Boy. New episodes of "Nokia Unwired" will premiere on MTV every Wednesday night at 8pm ET/PT beginning October 5. Upcoming shows include:
