Outcry Concert Cancelled As Baton Rouge's River Center Re-purposed For Shelter


BATON ROUGE, LA (CelebrityAccess) — In the wake of severe flooding that has left thousand of people in the Baton Rouge region homeless, the Baton Rouge River Center has opened its doors as a shelter.

Manned by the Red Cross, the arena is currently seeking supplies for refugees including new blankets, large zip lock bags baby's clothes from 18 months-2t, large boxes and totes, new socks, and new pillows, according to a post on the venue's Facebook page.

As well, a concert by Christian group Outcry, that had been scheduled for August 15th at the River Center has been canceled.

The floods followed historic rainfall, with accumulations totaling more than 20 inches in multiple Parishes, forcing evacuations of more than 20,000 people and leaving many people stranded in buildings or flooded cars. – Staff Writers
