LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Australian Rock Outfit, The Sick Puppies are following in the foot steps bands like OK Go! who have been utilizing service on the Internet like YouTube to create a buzz for themselves outside of the normative framework of more traditional promotion methods.
Their video, "Free Hugs" has already garnered more than 2,300,000 views. The video shows a man known around Sydney for offering free hugs to strangers. Juan Mann, the fellow who dispenses the hugs, told the Sydney Morning Herald that the video which displays him doing his hug thing to the tune of Sick Puppy's song "All the same" was mixed as a gift from Sick Puppy singer Shimon Moore. Moore had previously worked on Pitt Street where Mann focuses his hugging activity.
The video has gained the band quite a bit of notoriety, vaulting them from virtual unknowns to Internet stardom. They moved to L.A. last year and are currently seeking representation – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
