Simple Minds To Release New Album

LONDON (VIP-NEWS) — Simple Minds have revealed they are to release their first album in four years on 25 May.

Singer and lyricist Jim Kerr says Graffiti Soul contains "the most ballsy pop songs we have written in years".

The band recorded their 15th studio album at Rockfield Studios, their first visit there in nearly 30 years since working on New Gold Dream.

The Scottish rock band's last album was 2005's Black & White 050505. A tour is being planned to follow the new album.

Simple Minds shot to international fame in the 80s, after one of their tracks, Don't You Forget About Me, was used in the hit film The Breakfast Club.

During that decade they topped the UK charts with three consecutive albums.

A spokesman for the band said fans could expect the new album to be classic Simple Minds. It has been mixed by Bob Clearmountain, who worked on their successful Once Upon a Time album.

The band spent 2008 on their 30 Years Live tour.

Kerr said: "Sometimes you hit a period where everything just fits together perfectly and turns out exactly as you hoped it would.

"Graffiti Soul reflects that very sentiment." According to BBC
