TOKYO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Sony Corp has put one of its main buildings in Tokyo up for sale in a bid to raise 100 billion yen ($1.14 billion) to bolster their balance sheet.
According to Reuters, Sony is entertaining offers for the 124,000 square-meter Sony City Osaki building, which currently houses approximately 5,000 Sony employees. The company said that it intends to lease space from the building's new owners and continue to operate there.
Sony is also reportedly looking to sell their U.S. headquarters which is located on Madison Avenue in New York City. According to Bloomberg, pricing for the building may approach as much as $1.1 billion.
The sales are part of Sony's strategy to divest non-core assets and return to profitability after four full years of operating in the red. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
