LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Hip-hop label exec Marion "Suge" Knight has been charged in a hit and run fatality after allegedly driving a truck through a crowd of people at a film shoot in Compton on Thursday.
According to NBC News, Knight, 49, was arrested on a murder charge after turning himself in for questioning in West Hollywood on Friday. Knight is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
Sheriff's Homicide Detective Lt. John Corina told NBC Los Angeles that Knight's vehicle "drove backwards, struck victims, then went forward and struck them again as he left." Police identified the primary victim as Terry Carter, 55,
who was pronounced dead at a hospital. Another, unnamed individual was injured during the incident.
Knight's attorney conceded to NBC that Knight was driving the truck, but characterized the incident as a "tragic accident."
This
is the latest in a string of run-ins with the law for Knight, stretching back to the 1990s. In October, Knight and comedian Katt Williams were arrested and charged with robbery after allegedly attempting to steal a photographer's camera. That incident followed on the heels of a an attack at a West Hollywood nightclub in August that left Knight shot multiple times.
