NEW ORLEANS — (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) – The Young Leadership Council (YLC) announces its 2007 "Wednesday at the Square" Concert Series lineup, which includes Grammy award winner Irma Thomas and many other regional favorites.
"Musicians want to play the Square, so we were able to attract many of the ‘big names’ that people know and love in Louisiana," said Amy Boyle, executive director of the YLC.
Presented by Hancock Bank, the free concert series runs every Wednesday from April 4–June 20, 2007, 5:00–7:30 p.m. in Lafayette Square, just off Poydras Street between St. Charles Avenue and Camp Street.
YLC Wednesday at the Square will feature one music stage with performances by two different bands each week. There will be food from many of New Orleans’ famous restaurants and beer from Abita Brewing Company along with cocktails, soft drinks and more. There will also be an Artist Village with arts and crafts for sale by local artisans.
"YLC Wednesday at the Square represents the epitome of the unique New Orleans culture that we all love," said Chris Reade, president of the YLC. "Where else could you walk out of your office on a random weekday afternoon to a free music event with top notch talent and enjoy the evening with friends over a couple beers and good food?"
In its second year as manager of the event, the YLC has given the event a new "look" this year with a redesigned logo and color scheme.
"It was important for us to own this event as it becomes more and more popular, so we inserted ‘YLC’ into the name of the event. Plus, after seven years, we thought it was simply time for an update," said Boyle.
YLC Wednesday at the Square is made possible by the support of its corporate partners, which include: Hancock Bank, Republic Beverage Company, Abita Brewing Company and NOLA Development.
"Hancock Bank is proud to be the title sponsor of the YLC Wednesday at the Square series," said Don Zornman, SVP-Metro New Orleans Market President of Hancock Bank. "It’s a wonderful event for the entire city to gather each week during the spring to listen to good music, enjoy great food and just relax in a place that features the flavor of New Orleans at its best."
