LOS ANGELES, (CelebrityAccess) — Tom Cruise and Paramount ruled the box office over the weekend with the action-adventure sequel Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.

Directed by Edward Zwick, the film stars Cruise in the titular role, with Cobie Smulders co-starring, the film earned $54.0M globally on its opening weekend, according to estimates compiled by comScore. The film also improved on the opening weekend of the original Jack Reacher movie by 28%

Tom Hank's Inferno held on to the #2 spot for the weekend, taking in $28.9M for Sony with a to-date total of $94.8 million, and Tyler Perry's Boo! A Madea Halloween bafflingly took the #3 spot on this week's list, earning an estimated $27.6M.
