Underworld Member Injured During Ejekt Festival Riot

ATHENS, Greece (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A massive riot was started by 30 masked “anarchists” at the Ejekt Festival in Athens, Greece, on June 16th, resulting in the evacuation of all concertgoers and several injuries.

Among the injured was Underworld’s Rick Smith, but a full recovery is expected.

The gang turned up with knives, iron bars, baseball bats and Molotov cocktails, and forced their way into the 10,000-strong crowd.

Performances by Madness and the Beastie Boys were cut short when the group made its way to the backstage area to destroy equipment.

The group burned cars, damaged property all over the concert grounds, and left one guard stabbed to death. Police and emergency workers were slow to respond, giving the situation plenty of time to spiral out of control.

According to Pitchfork, Smith has returned to London for further treatment, and is expected to have a full recovery from his injuries. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
