WINDSOR, Ontario (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The new home of the Ontario Hockey League team The Windsor Spitfires has come in under budget by almost a million dollars, the Windsor Star has reported.
Although still under construction, the price tag for the WFCU Centre has been re-estimated at $64.9-million, $962,000 dollars less than anticipated. The new price point was revealed by Windsor's treasurer Onorio Colucci during a city council committee meeting held on Dec. 7th.
The 6,500 seat facility's operations director Don Sadler has stated that he expects the team to be playing there by December 31st of 2008.
According to Colucci, there are always risks in such projections and he cautioned that a number of "big ticket" items still remain in the budget that could affect the final price, but that the stronger Canadian dollar and lower interest rates had benefited the project. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
