Explosion And Fight Leave 1 Dead At Discovery Park Concert

SACRAMENTO (CelebrityAccess) — Sacramento police on Monday are investigating an apparent assault that led to the death of a 31-year-old man during a concert on Sunday in Discovery Park.

According to the Sacramento Bee, police detectives are treating the case as a homicide. The name of the victim has not been released.

A police spokesman told the Bee that concert attendees approached fire officials at the concert to report that the victim had been assaulted and appeared to be unconscious. The victim was transported to the hospital but later died.

Witnesses reported that the man appeared to be involved with a confrontation with another man at a food booth when he was assaulted.

“We’re still in the process of going through what all (the witnesses) had seen,” Police spokesman Matt McPhail told the Bee. “We do not yet know the entirety of the (circumstances) that led up to this. It’s being treated as a homicide until we know otherwise."

Fire officials were on hand due to an earlier incident where a propane tank at a food vendor cart exploded, causing a stampede. According to the Bee, multiple people were transported for burns and other injuries.

People were at Discovery Park for the 102.5 LIVE event hosted by KSFM radio and headlined by rapper E-40. The radio station reported that the event was sold out. – Staff Writers
