(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) – The Portuguese city of Lisbon has been chosen as the host site of the 2005 MTV European Awards, to be held on November 3rd at the Pavilhao Atlantico.
The past year’s ceremony was held in Rome, where OutKast proved to be the big winners.
“We chose Lisbon because it’s a young city and because MTV Portugal has been performing so well and with such enthusiasm,” MTV CEO Brent Hansen said in a statement.
Lisbon recently hosted the six-day Rock in Rio festival, which featured Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys and Sting, and attracted nearly 385,000 fans.
The MTV Europe awards feature 14 categories ranging from pop to hip hop, and are broadcast around the world on various MTV channels. MTV Portugal first launched in 2003.
Previous cities that have played host to the award show include Edinburgh and Barcelona. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
