ANTIOCH, Calif. (CelebrityAccess) Well, that didn’t take long.
Let’s give Dave Brooks at Amplify some credit: he predicted today would be when the XO Festival would be canceled and he was right by just a couple of hours.
The festival, which was announced by organizers who apparently have had little background in the festival business, promised about 100 acts, a zip line, a culinary stage, two silent discos, a foam pit, a VIP area where you can meet “a lot of different people” in a city that doesn’t see many such events. It originally had eight stages, then three, host Carmen Electra, then no Carmen Electra. As of Tuesday night, there were no stages set up.
Joe Brengle, the CEO of Contra Costa Event Park, where the event was to be held, issued the following statement: “Due to the promoters lack of fulfilling contractual obligations between the Contra Costa Event Park and World Class Entertainment, Event Park Management in the best interest and safety of our facility, event attendees and the City of Antioch have no choice but to cancel the XO Music Festival.”
The website for the festival says, ““XO, shall at any time prior to the Festival, have the right to change the Venue, Artist Lineup, Festival Times, Festival Dates or any or all other components of the Festival, at any time, with or without advance notification to You and without any compensation to You.”
The festival has had an interesting backstory but it can probably all be summed up by this shockingly unpromising promotional video.
