COLUMBUS, OH (CelebrityAccess) AEG Presents and Danny Wimmer Presents, who c-owned and produced the Rock on the Range festival, are reported to be parting ways over “differences in vision.”
According to the Columbus Dispatch, the split means the end of the Rock on the Range festival, but DWP will instead produce the Sonic Temple Art and Music Festival, which will take place next year from May 17-19 at Mapfre Stadium.
Wimmer told the Dispatch that he split from AEG Presents after reaching an impasse on the future direction of the event.
“There was no way we could do this with our partner,” Wimmer told the newspaper in a phone interview on Friday. “I hit this crossroads with AEG where we don’t agree on how this show should be.”
“We cannot take for granted what this show is, and we believe if we don’t make this move we could wake up one day and this show, because of all the other festivals, will be surpassed,” Wimmer added. “I’ve been constantly battling with my partners to grow this thing outside of music.”
DWP has produced the hard rock/metal-focused Rock on the Range with AEG Presents for 12 years.
Reps from AEG and AEG Presents did not respond to a request for comment on Friday.
