St. Helens, UK (CelebrityAccess) — Two people are in critical condition after suffering from suspected drug overdoses at the Reminisce Festival in the UK.
According to the St. Helen’s Reporter, festival organizers are collaborating with local authorities after a 9-year-old female and a 22-year-old male were taken to hospital after becoming ill at the event.
A number of other people were treated on site before being transported to a hospital with suspected overdoses as well.
Affected individuals were believed to have taken MDMA (also known as ecstasy) but authorities are continuing to investigate the matter.
“These are the early stages of our investigation but I want to reassure those affected that we are doing everything possible to identify exactly what substance or substances have resulted in these severe reactions, working alongside the health service,” Police Inspector Paul Grounds told the Reporter.
“We initially believe that ecstasy tablets were taken by some of those in hospital but this is all subject to further enquiries. I would urge anyone else who has had an adverse reaction to any substance make themselves known to medical services as soon as possible,” he added.
The EDM-focused Reminisce Festival took place at Sherdley Park in St. Helens on Saturday, Sept. 8th. Organizers for the event said they were “gutted” to hear about the alleged overdoses and released a statement asking festival-goers with information to contact Merseyside Police.
