NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) – CBS today (Sept. 26) announced that Richard Parsons has been named the interim chairman of the CBS board. Parsons will replace Leslie Moonves, who stepped down September 9, following a wave of sexual misconduct allegations made against him.
Parsons, who is the former CEO of AOL Time Warner, the former CEO of the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers and a former CEO of Dime Bancorp, was added to the CBS board of directors in April. He also currently serves as a director of The Estee Lauder Companies, Lazard Ltd and The Madison Square Garden Co. and as a member of the Commission on Presidential Debates.
Commenting on his recent appointment, Parsons said in a statement: “We have a distinguished and independent board that is steadfast in its commitment to serve the best interests of all shareholders.
“I think I speak for all Board members when I say I look forward to learning more about CBS’ compelling opportunities and how we can help guide and support the company’s growth.”
CBS also announced that Bruce Gordon and William Cohen, who have served on its board since becoming a standalone public company in 2006, have decided to step down from their posts.
