(CelebrityAccess) — Rapper Jay-Z has reportedly pulled out of Woodstock, the second major artist to do so in the day after it was revealed that organizers are in negotiations to move the festival to Maryland.
According to Variety, sources said Jay-Z was set to perform the closing set at the festival, who organizers now hope will take place at the, a 32,500 capacity Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD.
Earlier, former Credence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty dropped out of the event as well, hinting that organizers may have trouble fielding the lineup they had originally advertised.
Originally planned to take place in Watkins Glen, in upstate New York, the festival has been plagued by organizational issues and legal battles with its funders. In June, the festival announced plans to attempt to relocate to harness racetrack in Vernon, New York, but were unable to secure permits to stage the event.
A source told Variety that many of the top names on the lineup are waiting for the festival to be canceled instead of dropping out in order to keep their fees, while another source noted that bands are unlikely to perform at the new location after being booked to perform at Watkins Glen.
