(CelebrityAccess) — British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has officially become the new king of touring after his The Divide Tour became the highest-grossing tour in history.
According to Billboard, Sheeran’s tour has grossed $737.9 million and sold 8,503,496 tickets worldwide since launching in Turin Italy on March 16, 2017.
And the tour is still going, with nine additional dates left to play before it wraps on August 26th with a performance at Chantry Park in Ipswitch, UK.
Sheeran’s tour grosses topped a record previously held by Irish rock legends U2 after their 360° Tour wrapped in 2011 after two years on the road with a total gross of $736.4 million.
Other claimants to the crowd, which had been previously vanquished by U2, include The Rolling Stones, whose Bigger Bang tour held the record with $558 million.
