MILLINOCKET, Maine (CelebrityAccess) — Haley Smith, a contestant from the 11th season of the popular televised talent show “American Idol” died on Sunday in Maine. She was 26.

According to Maine-based CBS affiliate WABI-TV, Smith was killed in a motorcycle accident after she failed to negotiate a curve in the town of Millinocket at 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Millinocket Police Department told WABI that Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Smith’s father told TMZ that his daughter was a skilled rider and suspects that she may have swerved to avoid wildlife.

Smith, who was 18 at the time, appeared in the televised talent show in 2012 after making it past the audition phase of the competition.

However, she was voted off the island in the second round, despite impressing the show’s celebrity judges with her rendition of Rufus & Chaka Khan’s, “Tell Me Something Good.”
