NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) – Republic Records has hired Mel Carter as Senior Vice President of A&R.
In his new role, Carter will be tasked with scouting, signing, and fostering new talent for the Republic roster. Additionally, he will continue to oversee the current roster on his imprint, Hikari Ultra, which he runs alongside business partner and co-founder, Righteous P, under its joint venture with Republic.
Carter joined Republic Records as an A&R Consultant in 2018, bringing with him more than ten years of experience facilitating deals throughout the industry, including signing Jovanie to Atlantic Records.
Republic EVP Rob Stevenson said: “Mel has proven himself to be a true disruptor. He ignited a movement with Hikari Ultra that is diverse, dangerous, and dynamic—cutting his own path in the industry. We are grateful he has decided to join our team in an expanded role.”
