MEXICO CITY (CelebrityAccess) — Digital music streaming platform Spotify has thrown its hat into the crowded music awards show ring with the announcement of the inaugural Spotify Awards.
According to Spotify, user data, including plays, patterns, and habits, will help to shape the selection of categories, finalists, and winners for the awards show.
Through a partnership with Turner Latin America, the Spotify Awards will be broadcast live on March 5 from Mexico City, which Spotify says is the city with the most listeners globally, ahead of New York, London, and Paris.
Spotify provided few additional details about the new awards show, but a promo video suggests that it will be focused on Spanish-speaking Latin America.
