In its ongoing efforts to better serve the independent music/recording industry, the Association for Independent Music (AFIM) has created a new membership categories. This is not the first time the organization has felt the need to do this as it has experienced a widening variety of member profiles during it’s 30 plus year
Originally called the National Association of Independent Record Distributors(NAIRD), the organization quickly expanded beyond independent distributors only. AFIM membership now includes independent record labels, marketing companies, manufacturers, lifestyle companies and publications, as well as any individuals or companies involved in the independent music industry in a manner compatible with AFIM’s purposes and methodology.
