Alanis Morissette's 'Humps' Making A Stir On YouTube

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The lyrics for the Black Eyed Peas’ provocative hit “My Humps” have never been celebrated for their genius, but it may have taken an April Fools’ joke by Alanis Morissette to fully demonstrate their absurdity.

On April 1st, the Canadian singer-songwriter known for hits such as “You Oughta Know” and “Ironic” posted a video online of a slow-burning, emotional ballad version of the song, complete with a hilarious hair style and ridiculous duds and bling mocking Peas’ singer Fergie.

Morissette sings the song over a dramatic piano backing track, while mimicking Fergie’s sexual dance moves surrounded by a posse of men and a Mini Cooper convertible.

The video is currently the most-popular flick on YouTube, drawing well over two and a half million views this week.

The video has been celebrated across the internet, receiving rave reviews from columnists on Pitchfork and Stereogum, and discussion across MySpace and Facebook.

“How anyone could have a problem with this and NOT find it hilarious…My respect for Alanis just went back up,” wrote one user on Stereogum. “I suspected the lyrics were that bad, but only Alanis could bring the words to life.”
