Amphitheater Cut From Kauffman Stadium Plans

KANSAS CITY, MO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Kansas City Royals and Jackson County officials have unveiled the final design plans for the renovated Kauffman Stadium that eliminates a highly anticipated 9,500-seat amphitheater behind left field.

The Kansas City Star reports that the $250 million project will begin after this season and be completed by 2010.

Aside from the missing shed, there are few changes from the original design plans. Wider concourses, a kids’ play area, more restrooms, concessions and gates, as well as a full restaurant behind the outfield wall, are the focus of the new plans.

The team and Jackson County said feedback from fan focus group indicated little support for the amphitheater, which was to be used for concerts and other events and as an overflow area for fans. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
