Belgian Festival Sell 360,000 Tickets In One Hour

BOOM, Belgium (VIP NEWS) — The 2014 edition of Belgian dance festival Tomorrowland went on sale Saturday morning and sold out its 360,000 available tickets in under an hour, according to its organizers.

That’s significantly longer than the reported minutes it took for the 2013 event to sell out, but this year’s festival has been extended from one to two weekends (July 18-20 and 25-27), doubling its capacity to mark its 10th anniversary.

Thought to be one of the most international events in the world — with attendees from over 220 countries taking up temporary residence in the tiny town of Boom — Tomorrowland was watched by 16.8 million additional people this year via its popular YouTube livestream. It’s typified by fantastical stage design — last year’s main stage was a functioning volcano — and showy sets from the world’s biggest DJs, creating must-see moments. Hardwell, Tiësto, Carl Cox, Armin Van Buuren, Eric Prydz and Diplo have already been announced for the 2014 event.

EDM conglomerate SFX purchased ID&T, Tomorrowland’s parent company, last year, and successfully rolled out the first U.S. edition, dubbed TomorrowWorld, in Atlanta last September. Another ID&T property, Mysteryland, will make its U.S. debut at the original Woodstock site this Memorial Day weekend
