Bon Jovi, Dire Straits, Nina Simone Among Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees

CLEVELAND (CelebrityAccess) — The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the nominees for the 2018 class on Thursday, with Bon Jovi, Dire Straits, Nina Simone and Radiohead among the possible inductees.

This year's group includes 19 nominees from a variety different musical genres, ranging from jazz to hip hop.

2018 Rock Hall Nominees:

Bon Jovi
Kate Bush
The Cars
Depeche Mode
Dire Straits
Eurythmics
J. Geils Band
Judas Priest
LL Cool J
MC5
The Meters
Moody Blues
Radiohead
Rage Against the Machine
Rufus featuring Chaka Khan
Nina Simone
Sister Rosetta Tharpe
Link Wray
The Zombies

To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of induction which means the nominees for 2018 must have released their first official recording no later than 1992.

This year's nominees include nine artists who are first time candidates, including Dire Straits, Nina Simone, Judas Priest, Judas Priest, Moody Blues, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Nominees will be elected by more than 900 historians, members of the music industry and artists—including every living Rock Hall inductee—and the five performers receiving the most votes become that year's induction class. Beginning in 2012, fans were given the chance to vote for the nominees they'd like to see inducted into the Rock Hall. The top five vote recipients in the public poll form one ballot, which is weighted the same as the rest of the submitted ballots.

The list of 2018 inductees will be announced in December, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2018 Inductions ceremony will be held in Cleveland on April 14.
