GREAT BARRINGTON, MA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A mainstay of the New England club circuit, Club Helsinki, has announced that its shuttering for good after August 31st.
A posting on the company's website reads: "After 15 remarkable years, Berkshire County will see the end of an era when the combined business of Helsinki Café & Tea Company and Club Helsinki will close its doors. We are heartbroken to say that the curtain will go down for the last time on Aug. 31."
The club had a reputation as an intimate, eclectic venue, known for attracting nationally-known touring artists such as Guy Davis, John Hammond and John Scofield.
The announcement of the closure of the venue seems to have been abrupt and the calendar on the club's website showed dates running into September. Deborah McDowell, the owner of the club or her partner were unavailable for comment at the time of publication. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
