CT Blues Bar Owner Frank Burke Dies

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Frank Burke, the owner of Burke’s Tavern in Niantic, Connecticut, died Saturday, January 28th, after a battle with cancer. He was 51.

Burke opened the blues bar in 1993, which quickly became a staple of the Connecticut coast, and stop for many touring bands passing through the region. His venue was a launching pad for many local blues artists.

According to the New London Day, Burke is survived by his wife Sharron, with whom he shared duties at the bar, his daughter Laura Burke and his stepdaughter Michele Majchrzak.

The paper said that Burke loved to be near the ocean, and was a member of the Polar Bear Club, a boat builder, artist, music lover, sailor, animal enthusiast, motorcyclist, RV traveler, musician, partier and most of all, lover of life.

He was a well-known figure in the community and local music scene, and will be greatly missed by the many friends who crossed his path over the years.

The family asked that donations be made in his memory to the Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut, 179 Gallivan Lane, P.O. Box 902, Uncasville, CT 06382. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
