Cyndi Lauper In Legal Dispute With German Promoter

BERLIN, Germany (VIP-NEWS) Cyndi Lauper's cancellation of seven concerts in Germany, which were to be held from July 4 to 18, has led to a legal dispute with the German concert promoter Moderne Welt.

The dispute was confirmed by Moderne Welt CEO Henning Tögel in Stuttgart.

The William Morris Agency informed Moderne Welt on May 19 that the seven German dates would have to be cancelled "due to the scheduling of a pre-existing television commitment."

"Moderne Welt takes the view that this is no reason to cancel seven confirmed concerts with tickets already on sale without any financial compensation and [we] wish to be reimbursed for the loss," says Tögel.

He would not comment on the amount of compensation due to the pending dispute. "The total capacity of the venues was 25,000. This alone give some indication of the sum involved", says Tögel.

A statement on Lauper's official Web site says: "Cyndi Lauper will not be able to perform her European concert tour this summer due to the scheduling of a pre-existing television commitment.

"Potential dates for rescheduling are being explored. In the meantime, all tickets will be refunded at the place of purchase. Cyndi and her management extend their apologies for the inconvenience caused by this unavoidable schedule change." According to Billboard
