Drake Scores Top Album Of 2016 With Views


TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — Canadian artist Drake scored the top album in 2016 with his Grammy-nominated fourth studio album Views.

According to Nielsen Music, the album generated 4.14 million equivalent album units during the year, comprising traditional album sales, track equivalent albums and streaming equivalent albums. It was named in December as Spotify’s most-streamed album globally of the year as Drake finished as the top artist overall on the service with 4.7 billion worldwide streams.

The album spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and produced a number of hit singles, including “One Dance” which topped the Hot 100 for 10 weeks and was named in December by Spotify as the first song on its service to be streamed more than 1 billion times globally.

The album also earned Drake eight Grammy nods, including Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Rap Song for the cut "Hotline Bling." – Staff Writers
