LOUISVILLE, KY (CelebrityAccess) — Dangerous weather conditions caused organizers to call for an evacuation of Louisville's Forecastle Festival, in the middle of headliner Sam Smith's set on Friday.
Smith was 35 minutes into his set when the festival was hit by winds as high as 65 mph, rain and lightning. Fortunately, the festival's contingency plans proved effective and no one was injured in the weather event.
The show was Smith's first headlining appearance in the U.S. following a 3 month hiatus while he recovered from vocal surgery earlier this year. Smith posted on Instagram about the interrupted show, saying:
"The drama is real right now!! Literally In the middle of 'Lay Me Down' there was an electrical storm and I had to be taken off stage and the whole festival had to evacuate. This KILLS me, because you guys were SO loud and incredible!!!!!!!! You were so loud the heavens opened haha. Gutted. But I do feel like Dorothy."
