George Michael's Unusual Record Contract

Whereas most artists sign multi-album record contracts, George Michael has gone in the opposite extreme. He has reportedly inked a deal with Universal that calls for one CD and then he can leave if he is not satisfied. It also frees the label if the CD under performs, something Virgin might try to accomplish with Mariah Carey's contract. The resulting Michael CD has already been recorded and financed by him — a dance record due in the spring.
