Grandaddy Cancels North American Dates

MODESTO, CA (CelebrityAccess) — California-based indie rockers Grandaddy have canceled their upcoming North American tour after the death of their bassist Kevin Garcia.

Garcia died on Wednesday at the age of 41 after suffering a serious stroke in his hometown of Modesto, California, on Monday.

Given the circumstances, we, unfortunately, have to cancel our upcoming U.S. tour dates,” the band said in a statement. “We hope to reschedule these at some point in the future.”

Grandaddy's string of North American shows was set to start on May 4th at the Imperial in Vancouver and run through May 13th when they were due to perform at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown, CA.

A series of European festival dates in June are still on the books as of the time of publication. Grandaddy is touring behind "Last Place" — released in March, it's their fifth studio album and their first new material more than a decade. – Staff Writers
