(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Holly Kjeldgaard has been appointed assistant general manager and director of marketing at the Global Spectrum-managed Iowa Events Center, which includes Hy-Vee Hall, The Polk County Convention Complex, Veterans Memorial Auditorium, and the soon-to-open, 17,000-seat Wells Fargo Arena.
Kjeldgaard will be responsible for overseeing all advertising, marketing, event sponsorship sales, publicity and group sales efforts for all the multi-purpose facility. She will also be involved in scheduling and booking the facility, as well as assisting in overseeing the finance and operations of the arena.
"Holly is a talented and creative marketing professional who has excelled in her field at the John Labatt Centre, as well as at the Global Spectrum corporate offices at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia," said Global Spectrum's Andy Long, general manager of the Iowa Events Center. "We are confident that Holly will help make Iowa Events Center a major attraction for the residents of Des Moines and all of Iowa."
Whle at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario, where she held a similar position, Kjeldgaard developed marketing plans and strategies which included the grand opening of the facility in 2002, as well as creating and establishing a marketing department.
Prior to her position at the John Labatt Centre, Kjeldgaard was sports marketing manager at the Wachovia Center where she successfully directed the marketing efforts for the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League, the Philadelphia Kixx of the Major Indoor Soccer League, the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League and the introduction of the Philadelphia Charge of the Women's United Soccer Association.
Prior to joining Global Spectrum in Philadelphia in 2001, Kjeldgaard spent four years with the Harlem Globetrotters as regional marketing director where she successfully marketed the Harlem Globetrotters in over 30 markets throughout the United States. — Jane Cohen and Bob Grosssweiner
