LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — More than 1,000 of the industry elite descended upon London for the sold-out 23rd installment of the International Live Music Conference (ILMC) held from March 11-13.
Considered to be one of the leading live entertainment conferences, the invite-only confab this year followed a 'pulpy' jungle adventure theme, ala Indiana Jones and focused on the challenges facing the live segment.
According to MusicWeek, Kilimanjaro Live CEO Stuart Galbraith sparked a debate about the future of the ticketing industry when he suggested that Ticketmaster's UK operation would be owned by their European rivals CTS Eventim within two years. Galbraith noted that he believed that Live nation could be forced to cede Ticketmaster UK pending the result of ongoing litigation with CTS Eventim.
New technology was also discussed at the conference, including the potential of 3D and holographic performances, worldwide distribution of live events through digital cinema, technological enhancements such as contactless ticketing aat venues and the integration of social media and related technologies into the festival experience.
