John Rich Performs Impromptu Working-Class Anthem At Detroit Red Wings Game

DETROIT (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Warner Bros. artist John Rich happened to be in Detroit February 18, to discuss a video-shoot that he will be doing in the Motor City next week. While there, Olympia Entertainment invited him to attend the Detroit Red Wings game versus the Nashville Predators at Joe Louis Arena. One thing led to another, resulting in Rich being asked to perform his current smash hit, “Shuttin’ Detroit Down,” which he played right after the first period.

Rich’s performance didn’t help his hometown Predator’s, as the Red Wings won by a 6-2 score.

The song, “Shuttin’ Detroit Down,” is the first single from his highly anticipated solo release on Warner Bros. Records, Son Of A Preacher Man, available everywhere March 24.

Rich has written and/or produced more than 35 Top 40 hits. He has made a name for himself as an artist in his own right, a producer, an award-winning songwriter, judge on Nashville Star (NBC), and host of the smash hit series Gone Country on CMT. As a part of Big & Rich and as a songwriter, he has garnered multiple Grammy, ACM, CMA and CMT Music Award nominations. He was also awarded the ASCAP Songwriter Of The Year Award in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and has written 13 Top 10 singles. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
