SILVER SPRING, MD (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Two weeks after talks broke down regarding building a sister club to Alexandria, Virginia’s celebrated Birchmere in Silver Spring, Maryland, it appears that the town might not be out of luck for a new concert venue.
The Birchmere had planned a 700-seat music hall on the site of a former department store, but unknown circumstances led to plans being cancelled.
This week, County Executive Isiah Leggett confirmed to the Maryland Business Gazette that the county is in talks with Live Nation and others to develop the site. The county is reportedly looking at a similar venue to Live Nation’s Fillmore family of clubs, which range from 800 to 3,500 seats.
The state allocated $2 million for the original Birchmere project, but county officials expect little trouble in amending the appropriation so that the money can go to an alternate vendor. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
