Live Nation Targeted With Fake Press Release

EPHRATA, Washington (CelebrityAccess) — Live Nation appears to have been the victim of a hoax after a fake press release was circulated claiming the promoter owed back taxes for the Gorge Amphitheatre.

According to local news outlet iFiber News, an entity calling itself “Grant County News” sent a press release to multiple news organization claiming that the Grant County Assessor’s Office had sent a letter to Live Nation demanding several years of back taxes. However, Assessor Melissa McKnight said this was untrue, noting that treasurer’s office is responsible for billing.

“I would never single out a taxpayer like that,” McKnight told iFiber news. “I don’t send out bills.”

McKnight added that the county sheriff's office is investigating the source of the email as it purported to be from a government entity.

The release appears to have been sent from the domain aprava.com, a Canadian owned company that specialized in encrypted email and collaboration services. – Staff Writers
