Mark Linkous Commits Suicide At 47


KNOXVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Mark Linkous singer, songwriter of Sparklehorse took his own life on Saturday in Knoxville, Tenn., he was 47. Prominent in the indie-rock and alt-country worlds according to the New York Times, Linkous shot himself in an alley aside his friend’s house with his own gun. This was confirmed by his manager Shelby Meade.


Although not considered a commercial success Sparklehorse’s was revered by critics and other musicians, according to NYT, Sparklehorse was near completion of his latest album.


A statement from his family on the bands website reads “It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member, Mark Linkous, took his own life today. We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free.
