Martians On Top At The Box Office For A Month

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – 20th Century Fox’s The Martian is enjoying over a month as the box office number one domestic movie due to low grossing films.

Big box office names like Sandra Bullock with ‘Our Brand Is Crisis’ and Bradley Cooper’s ‘Burnt’ failed in gaining any real audience traction. The numbers are usually lower when Halloween fall on a Saturday night.

“The scariest thing to any studio executives is when Halloween falls on a weekend,” especially on a Saturday, the biggest movie-going day of the week, said Paul Dergarabedian, a senior media analyst with Rentrak. “The calendar didn’t cooperate and you got too many movies out there fragmenting the audience, so you had audiences going back to what they know.”

“All I can say is thank God Charlie Brown and James Bond are coming to save the day,” said Dergarabedian.
