Mohegan Sun Adds Bob Yalen as Director of Sports and Entertainment

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Mohegan Sun has hired Bob Yalen as Director of Sports and Entertainment. The native of Newington, Connecticut, comes to Mohegan Sun from ESPN and ABC Sports, where he worked as Director of Programming and Acquisitions and Director of Boxing. At Mohegan Sun, Yalen will concentrate on the acquisition and creation of live events as well as televised sports and entertainment opportunities.

For ESPN, Yalen was responsible for the programming of all soccer including the Men’s World Cup, bowling, figure skating and boxing for ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN International, as well as fitness/lifestyle, World’s Strongest Man, martial arts and all contact sports. While at ABC Sports, Yalen won three Sports Emmys and received the Sam Taub Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism from the Boxing Writers Association of America. He has also won Emmys for boxing production with NBC at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics.

An avid sports fan and boxing enthusiast, Yalen has sparred in the ring with former champs James “Lights Out” Toney, Ray Leonard and Marlon Starling.
