HOLLYWOOD, CA (CelebrityAccess) — Video streaming service Netflix announced the cancellation of their flagship drama series "House of Cards" following sexual assault allegations against the show's lead actor Kevin Spacey.
The accusations against Spacey came from “Star Trek: Discovery” actor Anthony Rapp, who said that Spacey made a pass at him while he was 14 and attending a party at Spacey's New York apartment in 1986. In an interview, Rapp told Buzzfeed that he found himself alone in a bedroom with Spacey following the party at which point, Rapp alleged Spacey made a drunken physical sexual advance.
"[Spacey] picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold. But I don’t, like, squirm away initially, because I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ And then he lays down on top of me,” Rapp told Buzzfeed, in describing the encounter.
Rapp sold Buzzfeed that he did not remember how long the encounter went on for but said he was eventually able to "squirm away" from Spacey.
Following the publication of Rapp's allegations, Spacey responded via Twitter that he did not remember the incident.
“I’m beyond horrified to hear his story… This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I now choose to live as a gay man. I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior,” Spacey tweeted.
Spacey's Netflix series "House of Cards" is now filming its sixth season. The show is an adaption of an earlier British television drama of the same name and was at the forefront of Netflix's move into original content when it debuted on the streaming service in 2013.
