New Entertainment Complex Considered At Ft. Bragg

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (CelebrityAccess) — Officials at U.S. Army base Fort Bragg are weighing a proposed entertainment complex at the base, including a movie theater, restaurants and a performance space.

According to the Fayette Observer, the $23 million project, dubbed Freedom Crossing, would include a nine- to 12-screen theater operated by a national chain. Six to nine national restaurant chains will be part of the complex, and a performance space which will feature a stage and seating for 700 to 800 people.

"(The entertainment center) is just another example of how the exchange and other Fort Bragg organizations are increasing the quality of life for our soldiers and their families," base spokesman Tom McCollum told the Observer. "Many of the current quality-of-life programs here at Fort Bragg would not be possible without their direct involvement and support."

The project requires the approval Army & Air Force Exchange Service's board of directions and get congressional approval before it can proceed.

The project, if approved, is expected to open for business in early 2017.

Established in 1918, Fort Bragg covers over 251 square miles and with a population of more than 238,000 people, is the largest military base in the U.S. – Staff Writers
