HONOLULU (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A Norah Jones concert planned for The Hawaii Writers Conference gala for Friday night has been cancelled.
The Hawaii Writers Conference says that the big opening night gala, including a banquet at the Sheraton Waikiki had to be cancelled because "due to the economic circumstances, we are unable to continue plans for the event."
"This was an intensely difficult decision for us. Non-profit organizations hold fundraisers to raise money for their causes. Even with the generous support of our existing sponsors, the effect of the economic downturn has made it impossible for us to proceed without a loss. We hope that the community will continue to reach out to non-profit organizations in need despite the challenges of successful fundraising in this uncertain economic climate," said Hawai'i Writers Conference founder John Tullius.
The conference is offering a full refund to anyone who bought tickets to this concert.
Prices for access to all events were $495 for general, $195 for students and teachers.
The opening day ceremonies on Friday morning will continue as well as the rest of the conference weekend as planned. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
