NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Following a successful surgery, British singer-songwriter Sam Smith is on the mend and reports that he has regained the use of his voice.
"I can speak again!" Smith announced via Instagram, posting a photo of Disney's "Little Mermaid" character from the moment in the film where she regains her voice.
Smith had been on strict doctor's orders to avoid talking, following a surgical procedure two weeks ago to address a vocal chord hemorrhage. Smith had canceled all upcoming shows, including a tour of Australia in order to receive medical care.
As well, Smith announced that his Australian tour had been rescheduled with shows starting Nov. 28 at Perth Arena, with additional dates in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in December.
“Australia, I am so so happy to finally have some good news for you… I can now announce that my cancelled IN THE LONELY HOUR tour dates have been rescheduled!!,” Smith says in a post on Twitter. "I’m unbelievably excited to get back onstage and perform for you all again, and I promise it will be so much better than it would have been before when my voice was damaged. The past few months have been incredibly difficult, but the support, love and patience my fans have shown me is absolutely unreal. I am so grateful to every one of you. I can’t wait to see you all." – Staff Writers
