Subiaco Oval Gives Price Break For Public Transportation

PERTH (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — If you're a football fan near Perth, tickets for football games just got a little cheaper. Provided you're willing to take the bus. The Sunday Times is reporting that an agreement between the West Australian Football Commission and the Public Transport Authority will provide for heavily discounted bus and train fare which will be incorporated into admission tickets.

The intention is to reduce the significant game-day traffic and congestion in the area. Normally most transit tickets cost 7.70 AUD but the new deal will provide transportation at a fraction of the price, just 1.65 AUD round-trip.

The new initiative will come with an upgrade to the transit hubs at West Leederville and Daglish to accommodate the new commuters.

The 43,500 seat Subiaco Oval is used primarily for sporting events, primarily soccer and rugby, but it has played host to some concerts as well, including shows by Led Zeppelin in 1972 and Paul McCartney in '93. Pearl Jam is scheduled to for a date there in November and Robbie Williams will stop by for a show in December. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
