ATLANTA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Preparations continue apace in Atlanta and the lineup has been announced for 30th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival, scheduled to take place in the city's Piedmont Park from May 26-28th, 2007.

Part of a month-long series of music events that will take place in and around the city, the Memorial Day weekend festivities will feature performances by some legendary artists. Headliners scheduled to appear include Herbie Hancock Quartet, Pete Escovedo Orchestra with Sheila E. and Laws Family. The talent doesn’t end there. The Atlanta Jazz Festival also features The Bad Plus, Mike Phillips, Chieli Minucci and Special EFX, Flora Purim & Airto, Charles Tolliver Big Band and many more.

This year, the festival has also added the 'Future of Jazz Stage' which will feature Ken Ford, Joe Sommerville, William Green, Yonrico Scott and more. The festival will also play home to the Digital Village, allowing attendees to preview the latest music technology, including the ability to download music and on-site interviews from festival artists and much more. The festival will also feature the Atlanta Cultural Affairs Artist Market, an initiative for local artists who have not had the benefit of a gallery showing to exhibit their work to the public.

Other events taking place in Atlanta include the Soulful Sounds of the City Concert Series, which kicks off on April 14th with an evening with Jazz greats George Benson and Al Jarreau, followed by Joe Sample and Randy Crawford on May 12. Closing this outstanding series will be the undisputed Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin on September 1st.
