SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A new venue new Smith Mountain Lake has cleared another hurdle after the Bedford County planning commission voted unanimously in favor of building the amphitheatre which now moves the proposal to the board of supervisors for disposition.
The proposed Sweetwater Amphitheater at Eastlake will be an outdoor entertainment facility capable of hosting national musical artists, theatrical performances, festivals and other cultural events. Proposed plans provide a total capacity of 7,000, with a permanent stage and under-roof area designed to seat 2,500 ticket holders, in addition to festival-style lawn seating for 4,500 attendees. The venue's primary operating season will be April through October, with plans for an opening season of April, 2008.
