Thompson New EVP At Island Def Jam Music Group

Greg Thompson has been appointed executive vice president, Marketing, Island Def Jam Music Group. He will oversee the activities of IDJ's Marketing, Sales, and Publicity Departments.

Thompson comes to IDJ from the Warner Music Group, where he served as executive vice president/general manager of the Elektra Entertainment Group since 1999. Prior to that, he spent five years as Elektra's senior vice president of Promotion. He began his career at Chrysalis Records in 1985, first as regional promotion manager for the Midwest, and later as vice president, Top 40 Promotion.

In 1991, he was named senior vice president, Promotion, at SBK Records. The following year he moved to EMI as vice president, Promotion, which position he held until joining Elektra. –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
